Pollinator Superheroes: Taking Action with Parks Canada

This network activity, Pollinator Superheroes: Taking Action with Parks Canada, is being hosted by LEARN in collaboration with Parks Canada. The intended audience for this session is Cycle 3 (Grades 5 & 6) Elementary students.

Did you know that a large portion of the food we eat depends on the tireless work of pollinators? These fascinating creatures play an essential role in our daily lives, often in ways we don’t even realize.

Discover the amazing world of native bees and the incredible migrations of the monarch butterfly. Students will explore how these small species have an enormous impact on ecosystems, the challenges they face today, and how Parks Canada works to protect pollinators and their habitats. Through citizen science projects like Mission Monarch and Bumble Bee Watch, students will see how anyone can help make a real difference.

What to Expect 

Join Parks Canada experts for an interactive virtual session projected directly in your classroom via MS Teams.

• Teacher’s Role: Register, project the MS Teams link, and facilitate student responses.
• Student’s Role: Watch the presentation and participate in live polls/quizzes.
• Materials Required: A main projector/screen with audio. Student devices for AhaSlides are recommended but optional (teachers can submit answers on behalf of the whole class).
