PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Poetry in Voice/Les voix de la poésie
This Partner Spotlight will feature Amanda Merpaw, English Program Director at the national bilingual non-profit organization Poetry in Voice/Les voix de la poésie, who will share all there is to bring into classrooms connected to poetry reading, writing, and recitation.
Poetry in Voice wants all Canadians to speak poetry. To do this, they provide free resources to schools for engaging with poetry in various ways: sending professional poets to classrooms, running a national student poetry journal, and organizing in-person and online poetry recitation events. Your students can meet a poet, have their writing published, and/or participate in one of these recitation contests—they might even be selected for the four-day all-expenses-paid intensive writing program, FutureVerse, or to perform at the recitation National Finals. Poetry in Voice’s website resources include a database of poems, animated video poems, poetry Mixtapes, writing prompts, lesson plans, and more.
